Odyssea is a non-profit organization that supports young vulnerable people to have access to employment opportunities in society. “Learning OSH through assembling” workshop took place on May 23rd, 2023 at the Odyssea makerspace. The goal of the event was to familiarize participants with OSH and its development processes, covering various aspects from licensing, repository building, CAD programme selection, documentation, and open collaboration to actual building and assembling.

Various kits of the Libre Water prototype were provided, and the participants assembled them, following the guidelines. Throughout the event, participants became familiar with OSH products, understanding the value, strengths and weaknesses of working with OSH, including in their own projects.

Participants were introduced to three different OScH projects: Libre Water 1, a project for solar water desalination, Libre Space 2, creating space technology & Wind Empowerment 1, developing small wind turbines. A hackathon is planned as a follow-up and organizers are offering support for participants to apply OScH principles for their own projects. They can also apply for other Odyssea programmes to further study and practice these principles, e.g. in the New Product Development Workshop.
